The Launch of The SmartStart Initiative

SmartStart Initiative

With three of For The Future Ghana’s S.T.E.P. beneficiaries preparing for the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), the Organization organized Saturday classes to solve past questions and
catch up on topics taught in the first year. The sessions exposed a gap in the education of our students hence For The Future Ghana in April,2023, launched the SmartStart Project.

For The Future

This project is a Saturday club where students receive extra classes to augment what they receive in the classroom and supply refresh understanding of subjects via different techniques of teaching and
learning. Besides beneficiaries of S.T.E.P. SmartStart also caters for 10 other final year students who need the assistance in their education at no cost to their parents. The sessions feature classes on all nine subjects with special focus on the core subjects and the French Language and create a safe learning environment for students.

Smartstart initiative

SmartStart allows students to actively participate, seek clarification and answer questions. So besides receiving book knowledge, the students are also building self confidence. We believe the sessions are effective given the small class sizes making it which enhance teacher student interaction with each student
receiving the required attention. This bridges the gap since public schools due to class sizes do not make room for such. We believe these sessions will improve the performance of participants even as they
prepare for the BECE.

The SmartStart classes are held every Saturday at Jane Montessori School in Accra. We look forward to expanding the classes to include students from different levels in the near future
